Santiago de Compostella

¡Hola tod@s!

We (Pierrot and Bernadette -the French couple-, Udo -a true German gent- and myself) arrived at Santiago today, Friday 18 September 2009 at 11.36 hours sharp. In time for the noon pelgrim's mass, sung by the traditional nun and, this particular service, officiated by nine priests, including one Italian bishop (from Ancona), who managed to complete the ceremony without inducing yet another great schism.
I gave thoughts to all dear to me: Irene, Nigel and Haroun, Yvonne, others close to us, friends; particular thoughts went to Hilda (our neighbor from Guadalajara, Mexico) especially to her mother, who's been unwell; to Thibaud, Laurent and to their parents, Mrs. Anne Marie and Mr. Lucien Rigolet-de Hasque for a long and healthy and hopefully yet happy life; to my colleagues at BOCS, and to Adde Schnell and his wife. And no, the list is not limited to merely those names...

The camino's been long enough. Effected without any major obstacles, I enjoyed a unique opportunity to experience España feet-down to earth, from Castilla to Galicia, from extreme drought and heat to, yep, soft rainshine. From endless steppelike plateau to ever changing up-and-down hills through -luckily dry- gullies and pathes deeply settled between natural stone walls, greenery, cows, sheep and yapping guarddogs.

I don't think I'll be repeating such foot-trip. Not because I didn't like it. Because it's always the same. Every day repeats itself, in one manner or another.

Life. Friends. Food. Sleep
and a good shower.
Pablo
